Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to questions regarding cleaning, scheduling, procedure and safety for homes and businesses in Staten Island, New York and New Jersey.
How often should I clean my dryer vent?
It is recommended to clean your dryer vent once a year. If you have a large household and do laundry frequently it may be necessary for you to clean it every 6–9 months.
How long does a standard cleaning take?
A standard cleaning takes about 30–45 minutes. If the vent is long, clogged, damaged, or on a higher floor, it may take longer.
Will my house get dirty during the cleaning?
No. We use a sealed vacuum system and professional brushes that keep the area clean. No dust is released into your home and we leave the work area neat.
How do I know if I need to clean my dryer vent?
You may require a cleaning if:
- Your laundry is not dry after one cycle.
- Your laundry room feels hotter or more humid than usual.
- There is a burnt or hot smell when the dryer is running.
- It has been more than a year since your last cleaning.
- Your clothing is not fully dry and needs longer drying time.
- You have a bird guard outside and lint builds up, blocking airflow.
Do you clean the dryer itself or only the vent?
We clean the entire vent route from the back of the dryer to the outside exit. We focus on ducts, vents, hoods and airflow. We do not repair the dryer appliance itself.
How much does it cost to clean my dryer vent?
Our pricing structure is based on the location of the dryer within the home. We do not impose additional charges for long vents, bird nests, or heavily clogged vents. Rates are determined solely by the floor on which the dryer is located and where the vent exits the home (for example: basement/first floor, second floor, third floor, or rooftop).
Any necessary repairs or replacement parts are billed separately and only with the customer’s approval. We do not add fees or modify the original quote without the customer’s consent.
Do you charge extra for bird nests or heavy lint?
No. We have fixed prices that are determined by the floor the dryer is located on and where the vent exits. The price does not change based on the amount of lint, the length of the vent or the presence of bird nests.
How are repairs and new vent installations priced?
Repairs and new vent installations are quoted on a case-by-case basis, determined by the conditions we identify on site. Services such as replacing damaged ducts, re-routing vent systems, or installing a new exterior hood are fully assessed and clearly quoted prior to the start of any work.
Can a clogged dryer vent really cause a fire?
Yes. Lint is extremely flammable. A clogged vent traps heat and can cause the dryer and duct to overheat, which increases the risk of a fire. Regular cleaning greatly reduces that risk and keeps your home safer.
Will cleaning the vent help my dryer work better?
Yes. When the vent is clean and airflow is strong, clothes dry faster, the dryer runs cooler, uses less energy and experiences less wear.
